Circumspice 4: answer to mini-quiz item in September edition of OurTown

Posted on September 4, 2021

Albert Road/Pittville Crescent Lane

The façade can be seen on the east side of Albert Road, by the corner with Pittville Crescent Lane. It forms the decorative rear of a stable block which shares a yard with a double coach house. Both served Southend House – now 32 Prestbury Road. The group were built 1840-45 and the three elements are listed Grade II.

Southend House in 1925 – the carriage house can just be seen through the crook of the tree. Note the black dog lounging in the road – now a busy roundabout!
