Campaigns

The Civic Society is now engaging in campaigning with the aim of achieving real changes in the vitality of the town centre and the way the town centre environment is managed.

The Society works closely with both Cheltenham Borough Council and Cheltenham BID to support appropriate changes of use and to encourage investors and landlords to do more to improve the look of any vacant properties.

The Successful Streets Group is focusing more on the poor condition of the public realm in the town centre. Having undertaken a street audit in 2018 – which identified more than 250 issues of concern – the Group is now adopting a more proactive approach to persuade the relevant organisations to get things done. More details on this campaign can be found on the Successful Streets page.

More about the Civic Society’s previous campaigns can be found on the Achievements pages.

Volunteers needed

The Civic Society is run purely by the voluntary efforts of its members and supporters.

Perhaps you could offer some of your time to help run one of our campaign projects?

Or maybe you could help organise some of our events or help write or produce our newletters?

If so, please get in touch with our Successful Streets Chair, Hugh Curran, via ssg@cheltcivicsoc.org
