Cheltenham Civic Society (CCS) has revealed its programme of events for this September’s Heritage Open Days festival.
Launched at Cheltenham’s Minster on Thursday 30th July, the programme includes 64 open buildings, guided walks, self-guided walks and talks about aspects of the town’s heritage.
The programme was also made available to the public today at a Heritage Open Days stall in the farmers’ market on the Prom, where 500 people were keen to snap up a copy.
The festival runs for ten days from Friday 11thSeptember to Sunday 20th September. The events are all free and, for those events where numbers are limited, can be booked at: hods@cheltcivicsoc.org
The programme for this September – available to download from our Heritage Open Days page – includes 30 new events, such as: open days at Cheltenham’s Lido and the Town Hall; a Pittville Pump Room launch of a project to create a historical map of the town; a guided walk covering the town’s public art; and a talk about the Everyman’s history with a tour of the Grove Street Education Centre.
Sarah Harvey, CCS trustee and co-ordinator of the events, said: “We are delighted to launch this comprehensive programme for 2026 and we thank all of our volunteers – without whom none of this would be possible.”
This year’s theme – set by the National Trust, which runs Heritage open Days across the country – is “Secret Places” and “Everyday Histories”. All of the Cheltenham events were organised by CCS in partnership with Cheltenham Borough Council, with the team of volunteers led by CCS Trustee, Sarah Harvey.
