Civic Society launches September programme of Heritage Open Days

Posted on July 20, 2021

10th to 19th September

An extensive programme of open buildings/tours, walks and talks has been organised by Cheltenham Civic Society in celebration of this year’s Heritage Open Days festival, which is co-ordinated at a national level by the National Trust.

The open buildings and tours include: the dramatic transformation of St Philip and St James Church (Pip & Jim’s) in Grafton Road; and tours around Cheltenham Croquet Club, Normandy House in the High Street, and the Queens Hotel in the Promenade.

Walks & Talks include: ‘Time Please!’ – Cheltenham’s lost pubs and breweries; Naunton Park, Cheltenham’s Garden of Eden; ‘Dig for Victory’, a talk about the domestic food growing campaign of World War II; as well as discovering more about Victorian wining and dining at the Holst Victorian House in Clarence Road.

All are free to explore. However, many of the events have limited numbers available, so must be booked in advance. Full details can be found in our brochure, which can be downloaded here.

This year’s Heritage Open Days festival was launched at Cheltenham Croquet Club.
